Have your feelings been hurt?

“I can’t believe she just said that!”

“Really, what was she thinking?”

“Yeah, I don’t think I can let this go.”

Are you ready to bite someone’s head off because of an ugly action or ill-spoken word? Been there. Done that. And I own several T-shirts!

When our feelings get squashed, our natural tendency is to pull back or push forward. And not in a good way. As I consider the impact of my retaliation, it’s evident that paying back evil for evil helps no one.

We always have a choice. And it’s always ours to make.

We are instructed in God’s word to step back, breathe, and consider —forgiveness.

“Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you” (Colossians 3:13 NIV).

Forgiveness is not an easy route, but it is the best choice.

People will disappoint me just like I disappoint God, but —will I choose to forgive them as He forgives me?

That’s a choice only I can make. How about you?

Let’s journey together 

Holy Father, help me choose wisely. Calm my spirit and fill me with your peace that passes understanding. Guide me, Lord, that I may reflect Your love in every situation. I still feel the hurt in my heart, Lord, help me to forgive as You forgave me. Hallelujah.

Do not merely listen to the word and so deceive yourselves; do what it says. James 1:22
