Are you stuck in the shadows?

Shadow moments are when you feel helpless, dejected, downtrodden, or perhaps disrespected.

One instance, I was in a coffee shop with my daughter, Heather, sharing my disappointment with how an event had not turned out the way I thought it should have, and I was deep in the blame game, mostly blaming myself.

“Maybe I was wrong. Maybe it would be best to stop speaking and move on to something else. Is that what God’s telling me?”

“Mom, those words sound more like the enemy talking. Sounds like he wants to shut you down. Do you really think God would want you to stop doing what He designed you to do?”

Shadow moments.

We’re all vulnerable.

Yet, God.

He would say, “Don’t give up. We’ve only just begun.”

We have a purpose beyond the shadows. In those shadow moments, we can draw close to God. Lean into His truth by talking with friends, and loved ones, and reading Scripture.

“But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.”1 John 1:7 NIV

There’s great value in fellowship. When we come together with brothers and sisters who are walking in Jesus, we are pulled free from the shadows to experience restored hearts, shared hurts, warm acceptance, and most excellent hugs.

“Don’t give up. Please. Don’t give up.”

Let us be careful not to mistake the Light, for sparkling confusion, as the enemy lures us with counterfeit excitement laced with chaos.

Let us turn and run to Jesus, He is the Light that always brings about peace, a positive perspective, and ordered possibilities.

His light makes a way in the shadows.

How has God made a way in your life?

Let’s journey together.

Thank You, Father, for Your faithful embrace. Never allow me to stay hidden within the busyness of life’s shadows, where I fail to fellowship with friends and family. I am cleansed by Your blood to walk out life as a light for men. Praise You for reminding us that You are in the relationship business. And that’s a family tradition I want to follow. Hallelujah!

Do not merely listen to the word and so deceive yourselves; do what it says. James 1:22

May YHWH bless you, keep you, and guide you in all you do. Until next time, this is Linda Goldfarb, and I’m so glad we are on this journey together with Father.
