Good morning gals~ Thank you for the wonderful message today. I want to resonate with you a bit regarding doing things together with family. One of our favorite memories, and a frequent topic of reflection, was that we would work as a family to do a “house rescue.” This involved setting a timer for two minutes and everyone would rush to one room and find the things which needed a home and we would return them all-the-way to their proper location. With all hands on deck, we could have any room back in good shape in two minutes. The momentum would drive us to the next room as well and there were lots of giggles. This removed the bitterness from chore time and I was also able to model the proper procedure for my children while supervising for quality in an encouraging way.
Oh, Joy!
I love your “house rescue” concept. Two minutes is such a doable time allotment for all personalities.
Now, if we have a Stabilizer child, he or she may move a little slower to get there but will certainly be a great support to all involved.
Working alongside our children lets them know we all make up the family, and chores become what we do to have a calm and peaceful home. Yay!!
Thank you for joining our conversation. We can’t wait to hear more from you in the future.
Blessings… Linda and Heather
