Do you think in generational increments?
Every 20-30 years, a new generation is recognized. This is the period of time when children are born and grow up, become adults, and have children of their own.
Our oldest son and youngest son were born 18 years apart, allowing Sam and I an opportunity to parent for 38 years actively. Truth be told, we did the best we could to parent well during those years, which also included our two in-between girls, and now we have grandchildren in the mix. It’s amazing how fast time goes by, isn’t it?
When I consider the generational impact one decision I make can have on our children, I shudder with the thoughts of failing as a parent, grandparent, great-grandparent, and even as a friend. Praise YHWH (God). My shoulders are not meant to carry such a heavy burden alone.
“Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.” Ephesians 3:20-21 ESV
Thinking generationally comes as we experience more of life. Not to say you can’t begin considering your generational impact as a young person, but the tendency is not to consider the future until there are fewer years in front of us than there are behind us. Just sayin’. Wow. I just said that.
As I also said, praise YHWH, I’m not on my own, and neither are you.
YHWH is able to accomplish more than we can fathom. He makes a way, when we didn’t know a way needed to be made. Yeshua (Jesus) goes ahead of us to prepare for our future and the future of our children and our children’s children and beyond.
Our part in this generational impacting journey is to lean into the Holy Spirit within us and to heed His guidance. To give YHWH glory in all things. To talk about all He has done and continues to do in our lives every chance we get. My friend, Cherlyn shared that she and her hubby have a box, or maybe a jar, overflowing with slips of paper where they’ve written the blessings they’ve experienced from YHWH in the past year or so. It is such a great way to make what Father does in our lives tangible.
It’s true that everyone is responsible for their own choices, our children and theirs included, yet it’s good to remember, that our choices matter too. Impacting generations begins with my choice to love.
How will you share your love of Yeshua today?
Let’s Journey Together.
Heavenly Father, open my eyes to ways I can share your love today. I praise You for all You do in my life and the lives of my brothers and sisters. Open doors of opportunity and give me the strength to walk through with boldness of speech and clarity of mind. May I always be a light in the darkness for this generation and those to follow. In the name of Yeshua, hallelujah. Amen.
Do not merely listen to the word and so deceive yourselves; do what it says. James 1:22
May YHWH bless you, keep you, and guide you in all you do. Until next time, this is Linda Goldfarb, and I’m so glad we are on this journey together with Father.
