There’s power in knowing we belong.
As a young child, I rummaged through some family memorabilia and came across my brothers’ tiny wristbands they received at birth. The bands represented their connection to my mother and our family.
Though I searched, I could not find mine.
“Hmm. I wonder if I’m adopted?”
This single thought consumed my emotions.
I struggled —Do I ask? Don’t ask?
Drawing up courage, I asked. Mom assured me I was born into the family.
Adoption is as viable a bond as blood.
Today, I realize that adoption is as viable a bond as blood. I now understand it’s a personal choice.
With human adoptions, parents choose a child to become part of their family, not based on a birthright but on an outright intimate choice.
God has done the same for us. He opened the door with welcoming arms.
“The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, ‘Abba, Father’” (Romans 8:15 NIV).
Salvation is Father’s intimate invitation followed by our choice to step through the door. How are you handling your adoption? #graftedin #stayingreal #wearefamily Share on XHis Spirit, in us, doesn’t position us as enslaved people to an owner. Our adoption into His family —is His choosing, followed by our choice to step through the door.
How are you walking out your adoption into the family of God? An intimate relationship with your creator is available for the asking. Are you ready?
Blessings as you fully embrace your adoption and your Abba!
Let’s Journey together
Thank You, Lord, for choosing us as Your children. Thank You for opening Your arms wide to embrace our pain, suffering, and trembling. You, O God, are caring, faithful, and merciful. You love us enough not to leave where You found us but to grow us in Your grace daily. We’re so glad to be part of the family. Hallelujah. Amen

Thanks for sharing your thoughts about adoption! As an adoptive mom (our son was born in Siberia), Romans 8 has always held a special meaning for me. We have a biological daughter, and I have the same love for both of our children. Adoption requires sacrifices, much as God has done for us in sending Jesus to give his life for us. It’s a beautiful reminder of His love, patience, and JOY in choosing us to be His children! Blessings to you!
Thank you, Nancy.
Adoption is so much more than giving someone a place to live isn’t it?
It’s opening our hearts and offering them a place to be loved.
I’m so glad you joined in our conversation. Blessings to you, as well.
