Turmoil surrounds us today.

People struggling to make sense out of chaos are scratching their heads in disbelief at what’s happening in their lives. How about you?

I was “wronged” as a young girl. A friend chose to share what I spoke in confidence, and my heart hurt. Anger rose up. I didn’t understand why she did what she did. Seriously, there were so many things I could tell everyone about her. Yet, I had been taught righting wrong with wrong is never right.

I compare hurt and turmoil and chaos to a growing darkness that smothers hope. Retaliation doesn’t work to clear the hopelessness. Only the love of Christ in us can bring about a peace that lights the way for all who struggle.

Martin Luther King Jr. gave us words to that effect,

“Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.”

The Light of the world promises hope from the darkness. Jesus is the hope. He is love.

How is the light of Christ working through you in the darkness of this age?
Imagine how much darkness would be driven away if each of us shined a little brighter for the Lord.

Let’s journey together

Lord, Your light of hope is greatly needed today.
Let our words be filled with love and truth so that others may be drawn to You.
When darkness creeps in, remind us of the light within us so that we may hold tight to the truth that sets us free.
Thank You, Lord, for the new mercies we receive each day. May we choose to extend grace unto others who struggle in darkness. Let Your light shine through us with hope, love, and peace.
Hallelujah. Amen.
